These tests aim to evaluate the efficacy of traps or devices that use attractants, such as pheromones or food baits, to lure arthropods, working as useful tools to monitor the presence of target organisms and combat them while reducing the use of insecticides.
Like repellents, attractants can be tested in laboratory tests or in field tests.
At the moment, under the Biocide Product Regulation (BPR), attractants have to be registered to be commercialized, which had not been necessary until now.
